12th Annual “Seeds of Hope Extravaganza”
October 21, 2008 - Miami
The women of America Developing Smiles-Dade will host a full day of entertainment and a fashion extravaganza. The America Developing Smiles event will include a luncheon, a fashion show and entertainment byan up-and-coming music celebrity. A daylong bazaar with more than 50 South Florida and International merchants will be showcased on a separate alley. Attendance is expected to equal or surpass 700 people, and sponsorship proposals are available upon request.

VENEGOLF 2008 Golf Tournament

The women of America Developing Smiles-Broward Chapter and the Venezuelan Golf Organization (VENEGOLF) will be joining forces again to host the America Developing Smiles-VENEGOLF 2008 Golf Tournament at the Miami Beach Golf Club. ADS International Council North Region/Consejo Regional Institucional (C.I.R.)
November 6 – 9, 2008
As part of the 40th anniversary of Asociacion Damas Salesianas, America Developing Smiles will hold its second Consejo Regional Institucional (C.I.R.) from November 6th through 9th, 2008, at Casa Manresa, Miami. This is a working encounter designed promote the ADS lifestyle of work and voluntarism by sharing processes, developing actions and accomplishing regional consolidation. Three days of seminars and training sessions will enhance volunteer knowledge and capabilities in areas such as fundraising, leadership, and strategic planning, as well as self-improvement and spiritual growth. This is an invitation only event for registered America Developing Smiles volunteers and members of its national and local boards of directors.
Participating countries include the USA, Mexico and Puerto Rico.
Retreat Location: Casa Manresa, 122nd SW Ave 56th Street, Miami.

2nd Annual Semillas de Esperanza, A day of Fashion and Bazaar
Wednesday, November 19, 2008 – Puerto Rico
America Developing Smiles hosted its second annual, “Semillas de Esperanza 2008”, a day of fashion and bazaar on November 19 at the Acquamarina at Ashford 1315 Avenue. The activity presented the renowned Miami designers Victoria Lopez Castro and Sazzing Jewelry. About 15 local additional merchants joined the bazaar. Attendance was above 80.
With this event, we raised funds to continue supporting Asociación Damas Salesianas centers and programs in Puerto Rico. We also continue to promoting the educational scholarships at the Maria Auxiliadora school in Barrio Obrero, where women of America Developing Smiles have recently installed an arts and craft and home economics program. “With our efforts we want to cooperate with existing catholic educational institutions seeking to promoting strong values for the most needy, looking to forge better citizens for tomorrow”, says Mariangel González, President ofe America Developing Smiles Puerto Rico. Our next event is planned for the month of April 2009.
America Developing Smiles “Pulguero” Flea Market
December 7, 2008 - Miami
On the premises of the San Juan Bosco Parish in Miami, Florida, a group of women volunteers of America Developing Smiles organizes a twice-yearly thrift shop day or Pulguero. The collection of items for sale focuses on carefully selected household bargains and vintage fashion for all ages. The funds collected are destined to provide books for the parish catechism classes, and will help more than 400 children in the parish. All items are available for under $10.00.
